More in Common Than You Might Think

Here is the flyer for the Paul Tripp conference in Santo Domingo.

We got off to a bit of a slow start today because a number of the teachers and administrators from the school here in Juan Tomas were heading to a conference today.  When we asked them questions about the conference we quickly learned that our two churches had more in common than we originally thought.  They were all piling into a van to hear our brother from Philadelphia, Paul Tripp, speak at a conference for Christian educators.  When they returned in the evening, they were all very excited about the encouraging sessions at the conference, and they're eager to return there tomorrow.

After they departed for the city, we began plugging away at the day's major jobs.  The painting teams made major progress in their efforts to finish up four large classrooms on the elementary campus.  Simultaneously, the team working on the kindergarten completed demolition just before lunch and transitioned into framing out the walls, windows, and doorways of the new room.  All in all, it was a wonderfully productive day... considering the weather.

While we were blessed with wonderfully pleasant weather this morning, something akin to a monsoon swept through Juan Tomas today in the afternoon, and has been with us ever since.  It's safe to say that none of us have ever encountered rain this hard, or a storm that has lasted as long as this one.

Still, we are incredibly grateful for the productive and fruitful week we are enjoying together down here.  The fellowship with our Dominican brothers and sisters has been such a blessing to all the members of our team.  Here are some pictures that help to tell the story:

The ladies finally got their wish: DEMOLITION DUTY
