Feasting, Fellowship, and Fotografías

In lieu of the Saturday evening service, our Dominican brothers and sisters prepared a wonderful meal for us last night.  The purpose of this meal was to celebrate God's blessing during our time together.  The key verse highlighted during this time was Hebrews 6:10:

"God is not unjust.  He will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them."

Needless to say, we were overwhelmed.  It has been a joy for us to partner with the local church in Juan Tomas, and we are honored to be a part of what God is doing here.

After a restful night's sleep, our team traveled to Santo Domingo today for morning worship.  Although the sermon was delivered in Spanish, the church provided us with headsets so that we could listen to a live English translation of the message.  Even though we are over a thousand miles from home, our students felt at ease during this service.  There were a number of similarities including familiar worship songs, and quotes by prominent Christian authors such as John Piper, John MacArthur, and D.A. Carson.  Overall we found it to be a very encouraging time!  It was a real blessing to worship with hundreds of people who, despite coming from a different cultural background, serve the same Lord.

This evening our team will be attending a worship service in Juan Tomas.  At the church's request, our very own Jeremy Johnson will be delivering the message.  Please pray that he will be able to preach effectively for God's glory.

Additional pictures from the past two days are below.  Enjoy!

  1. Parents are wondering how you will let them know when to be at the church.
