Faith in Action

Pictures of the house our team helped build yesterday are below.  Prior to our arrival, the church helped by pouring a concrete floor to replace the family's dirt floor.  The exterior was covered with a corrugated sheet metal, which our team replaced with wood.  In addition to building the exterior of the house, we put up partition walls.  Needless to say, the family was very excited to now have more than just one room!

This morning in our group devotions on 1 John 3:1-10, we were discussing how the Dominicans show love to one another and what we can learn from them.  Christina talked about the patience they displayed yesterday while we were working on the house.  Rather than completing the more complicated tasks on their own (which might have been more efficient), they instead chose to educate our team on these items.  By doing so, they graciously allowed us to partner with them in additional ways than we would have been able to otherwise.  At the end of the day, our students were tired, but thankful for the opportunity to serve this family in the village.
