Rattlin' Bog

Good Morning from Juan Tomas.  This week has been flying by and it's hard to believe it's already Friday!  In our morning devotions today, we read 1 John 3:11-15 and continued to discuss the importance of showing love as a Christian community.

Yesterday, in conjunction with a VBS led by Maria and Miriam, and craft sessions with Abby, Molly W. and Annika, Kang In led a special Taekwondo class for the local children.  Kang In, Tad and Nanako demonstrated some impressive moves and the kids learned important lessons like never to start a fight and how to properly defend yourself.  This was a huge draw for the local kids! We have decided to host another class this afternoon and are expecting an even bigger turnout.

Yesterday was a busy day of work and we're encouraged to see major progress on the projects we've been working on the past few days.  Most of the classrooms are freshly painted and cleaned, a home for the campus cook (which had been destroyed by termites) has been rebuilt by our team.  The students finished the cement floors and walls yesterday and plan to paint the rooms this afternoon.  We are praying that their family will be able to move in this weekend.

One of the most amusing parts of yesterday's work day was an impromptu concert put on by Tad and Jose, one of the Dominican teens who has been helping us this week.  As they refinished a metal door to one of the classrooms, Jose started a rhythm with a metal paint scraper on the door and Tad began to belt out Rattlin' Bog.  Soon the whole work crew as clapping and singing along!  In case you don't know the song, I've included a link below... just be sure to picture Tad singing this loud and proud.
